Welcome to The Woodard Family.org website, which has been created for the research and preservation of the history of the Woodard Family of the early 1800s who lived in and around Maury County and Giles County, Tennessee.
Our purpose here is to gather and present as much documented information as possible about the ancestors and descendants of the Woodard Family who made their home in and around the areas of Maury County & Pulaski in Giles County, Tennessee. We begin in the early 1800s with Chesley Monroe Woodard (1821-1852) and his wife Lavinia Renfro (1815-1890), who are listed in the US census records in Maury County; then to John J Woodard (1843-1915) and his wife Susan Pinkleton (1847/'48 - ) who are listed in the US census records for both Giles and Maury County; then finally to Charles 'Charlie' Woodson Woodard (1875-1956) and his wife Amanda Elizabeth 'Lizzie' (May), Woodard (1882-1964) who lived mostly in Pulaski, TN.
The largest part of the currently available details and photos has been contributed by one of John J. Woodard's g. grandsons, Sanford 'Sonny' Park. Sonny's work, along with that of his wife Evelyn, is the cornerstone on which this site will be built; and we extend our heartiest "thank you" to them for their efforts.
We owe additional thanks to Maurice E. Woodard of Pulaski, Tennessee, who is a descendant of James Nathan Woodard (John J's younger brother) and an active Woodard Family researcher. Maurice has generously provided the documentation on our shared ancestor Chesley Woodard and we are most grateful to him for contributing the details of that generation.
Again, to all of you who are descendants of the Woodard Family of Giles County, TN., and any of the other branches as well, we welcome you and invite any corrections, additions, comments and/or suggestions you may have regarding the development of this site. We hope you will enjoy it.
